November 27, 2010: Detail Inventory

Back to work! Eric and Bennett took an inventory of all the small details that still need to be attended to. After shopping at the big boys' toy store, they started in on a few of them.

Door stops and door pulls:

...and more quarter rounds. The doc was very busy helping Eric by priming, sanding and painting, but not to busy to play around for the camera.

November 26, 2010: Special Visitors

No work for one more day, but we had special visitors!

Mizue came by to see who is competing with Eric for his affections! NOW she understands.

And Sharon came by on an errand and ended up with a tour!

All's Quiet... time to give thanks

It's been a quiet week here. Eric has made sure all his things are put away neatly as he gets ready for Thanksgiving. So I decided to add a little decoration...

God's Richest Blessings to you this Thanksgiving 2010!

I wish you could smell my new kitchen this morning...

Pumpkin Crunch Pudding Cake... inaugural oven dish. It was only cooked over here: not enough room or equipment for Bennett to actually create his masterpieces. But it's a promise of wonderful things to come. The Iz Rolls will be cooked over here later. Woohoo!

I pray God's richest blessings on you and your families this beautiful Thanksgiving day!

Psalm 95
Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD;

let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.

For the LORD is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.

Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;
for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.

Today, if only you would hear his voice, do not harden your hearts...

November 22, 2010: More Details

Short day today. Thanksgiving is Thursday, so there's lots of things to be done elsewhere. But for now, Eric put in the threshold on the servant's entrance and the guest bathroom.

(And by the way, when I say "servant's entrance," it does not at all mean we will be having servants! It's just the entrance we will normally use when grocery shopping or doing laundry or various many other things we will do to upkeep the house!)

Another shot of the organized workplace.

Love it!

November 20, 2010: Details

Eric planed the bottoms of the doors so that they wouldn't get caught on the thresholds.

And Eric and Bennett grouted the landing tiles.

Tomorrow is our 200th day of building, so to celebrate, the guys are going fishing. Should be some good eating!

November 19, 2010: More Corner Rounds

Woke up this morning to the dulcet tones outside my window of... the planer, eating away at the imperfections in the beams of wood, which would next be shaped on the router to become corner rounds for the floorboards.

Other little details completed were the access panel to the attic and the floorboards in the utility area.

Caught Bennett relaxing for a moment...

November 18, 2010: Tiling the Servant's Entrance

Eric and Roger finished the hall flooring.

Then they worked on the landing to the back entrance.

November 17, 2010: Hall Flooring

It's cool--and reassuring--to see how the work area is constantly kept in a state of cleanliness and order even though aspects of the construction are constantly changing.

Today Eric and Roger worked on the hall flooring.

And the countertop guy from Aloha State Sales came to take measurements for the bathroom vanities.

November 16, 2010: Down to the Details

Early b'day greetings...

November 13, 2010: Finishing the Exterior

Eric and Darrin worked today. Darrin worked on finishing the exterior bands and skirts.

Then he installed the valances under the kitchen cabinets.

Meanwhile, Eric finished flooring the closet in the master bedroom.

The laser is to set the shelves in the closet. Future project.

After installing the doors, he took a little time to play with his buddy.

After Bennett got home from helping Wally with orchids at KCC Farmers' Market, he helped Eric grout the glass blocks.
