November 22, 2010: More Details

Short day today. Thanksgiving is Thursday, so there's lots of things to be done elsewhere. But for now, Eric put in the threshold on the servant's entrance and the guest bathroom.

(And by the way, when I say "servant's entrance," it does not at all mean we will be having servants! It's just the entrance we will normally use when grocery shopping or doing laundry or various many other things we will do to upkeep the house!)

November 20, 2010: Details

Eric planed the bottoms of the doors so that they wouldn't get caught on the thresholds.


And Eric and Bennett grouted the landing tiles.



Tomorrow is our 200th day of building, so to celebrate, the guys are going fishing. Should be some good eating!

November 18, 2010: Tiling the Servant's Entrance

Eric and Roger finished the hall flooring.


Then they worked on the landing to the back entrance.

November 11, 2010: Lots Going On!

Today's a federal holiday, and our house is more full of construction workers than we've seen for a while!

David the tiler got hired for a union job, so Bradley and his son Braeden came to finish grouting the master bathroom.



Mark mudded the rest of the drywall entry between the houses.


Darrin and Roger worked on finished the exterior trim.



Eric and Bobby installed the blowers and the stainless steel cover for the range hood.


Oh, and by the way, Bennett took many of the photos today (including this work of art!) while I was out all day with various girlfriends celebrating my birthday!

Bobo worked on some of the electric stuff on the island and worked with Eric to install the pantry and hall lighting.


So, lots of things getting done in and on the house today! Flooring, floorboards, appliances... we finally see the end in sight!


Randomness...

The screen in the guest room that we use at night to block out the street light that shines into the room...


The dog who is slowly getting used to his new routine, with his "brother"...


And Jody came by to visit and check out the progress...

Looking forward to when John visits as well... once he's done with his Mideast tour.

November 7, 2010: Glass Block Walls

David, Eric and Bennett installed the glass blocks for the shower walls.


With the bathroom vanities delivered and the sizes confirmed, David installed the remaining tiles in the master bathroom...


...while Eric and Bennett transformed the guest bathroom four-legged vanity into a cantilevered alternative.



Meanwhile, Roger sanded the subfloor, getting ready to install the koa laminate on Tuesday...


...and, as usual, Totoro waited patiently until Eric was ready to give him treats.


My beautiful wildflowers are blooming on the strip in front of my house! Love them every year.
