December 13, 2010: Eric's New Assistant...

Mizue came with Eric today and helped by taping up some of the tears in the paper covering the floor.


Eric was filling in holes here and there as well as finishing the closet fixtures.


And Bobo was working on some more electrical stuff.

Don't the hall lights look beautiful, all lined up (it's the laser!)?

December 5, 2010: Details, Details

Darrin and Eric worked on various other details around the house while Roger and Bennett cleaned up and moved lots of stuff to get ready for Calvin's team to come in on Monday to paint the outside. David Wong dropped by for a little while to help as well.


Darrin straightened the drawers and installed the pulls.


With David's help he also installed the quarter rounds over the flooring and baseboards.


And before Eric had to go run his errands, he worked on the master bedroom closet.

November 27, 2010: Detail Inventory

Back to work! Eric and Bennett took an inventory of all the small details that still need to be attended to. After shopping at the big boys' toy store, they started in on a few of them.

...and more quarter rounds. The doc was very busy helping Eric by priming, sanding and painting, but not to busy to play around for the camera.

November 22, 2010: More Details

Short day today. Thanksgiving is Thursday, so there's lots of things to be done elsewhere. But for now, Eric put in the threshold on the servant's entrance and the guest bathroom.

(And by the way, when I say "servant's entrance," it does not at all mean we will be having servants! It's just the entrance we will normally use when grocery shopping or doing laundry or various many other things we will do to upkeep the house!)

November 19, 2010: More Corner Rounds

Woke up this morning to the dulcet tones outside my window of... the planer, eating away at the imperfections in the beams of wood, which would next be shaped on the router to become corner rounds for the floorboards.



Other little details completed were the access panel to the attic and the floorboards in the utility area.

November 18, 2010: Tiling the Servant's Entrance

Eric and Roger finished the hall flooring.


Then they worked on the landing to the back entrance.

November 17, 2010: Hall Flooring

It's cool--and reassuring--to see how the work area is constantly kept in a state of cleanliness and order even though aspects of the construction are constantly changing.


Today Eric and Roger worked on the hall flooring.


And the countertop guy from Aloha State Sales came to take measurements for the bathroom vanities.

November 12, 2010: Installing the Master Bathroom Vanity

Challenging day...

Vanity... vanity... all is NOT vanity... at least not this one...

As built, the doors would not cooperate with the walls, so Eric will have the opportunity to hone his cabinetry skills and work out a solution... but not today. Inspiration will come soon, so just pray for his thinker to come up with yet another dazzling display of his God-given ingenuity!

And the floor was fine until the closet... but Eric is stubborn and refused to be beaten by a floorboard (though I'm sure he would have loved to beat some himself!). Wish I had gotten a photo of the notes he wrote on the blue tape when he was done...
