October 31, 2010: Pantry Shelving

Today Eric and Roger cleaned and cleaned and cleaned the kitchen floor in preparation for tiling.

Rodney laid the tile using that cool laser tool that makes everything so straight.

No stepping on the tile for 24 hours!

Oh, and I discovered that the guys had put in the toe kick veneers the day before!

Eric started installing the shelving in the pantry.

Tomorrow he will install the facing and the post.

May 26, 2010: Continuation of yesterday

The roofers continued their work, while Eric, Thomas and Rodney marked all the rooms and did a lot of the prep work for tomorrow (like moving those heavy posts!).

Their work area happens to be in the spare bedroom/my workroom!

May 24, 2010: More of the same...

...just without the rain.

I wanted to share some of the detail work:

I love the pattern of the blocking!

I think these are the hurricane ties?

Very securely attached joists!

And ample crawl space (and playspace for grandchildren who may show up someday!).

And so here we are thus far.

May 16, 2010: Filling the Holes!

With the CMUs complete, Jerard Chee backfilled the holes. So we have before...

...and after! And the space between the two CMU walls is for stairs. Pretty Grand!

And another boss visited today as well, Rodney's boy James.

May 14, 2010: First Lumber Delivery

The guys continued to work on the CMU posts, and Walter and Roger delivered our first batch of lumber.

May 12, 2010: Cement Day!

Today the guys poured the cement into the footings and began building the CMU posts.

Boy, they had to be fast!

Nice and smooth... well, except when those giant boulders got in the way!

Oh, the building inspector and Jeff, one of the architects, also came by to check things out!

Making progress!
