End of work day for both guys... haven't had a chance to sit down and talk for a while! Nice break.

October 11, 2010: Exterior Work
We have workers today! (Discoverers' Day) Eric, Darrin and Roger worked on the exterior, adding the trim to the part of the house adjoining the old portion and building the gates for the crawl spaces.

October 10, 2010: Family Visitors
It's Bennett's mom's birthday weekend, so on Saturday Charisa, Aunty Lauretta and the sisters who were in town blessed her with a tea party. Aunty Lauretta came by to check out the progress on the house.

Joycelyne and Jon also checked it out.

Later in the afternoon, Jason & Pam Joe with baby Riley came by. They are regular followers of the blog, but there's nothing like seeing the real thing! Even with it's (very) colored walls!

October 8, 2010: Quiet Week
Eric is still on the Wind Turbine job, so it's been a quiet week at the plantation. But we did have visitors.
Phil & Leslie McCallum were in town, so we shared our almost-done place with them.

Our new neighbors were having a birthday party, and we discovered Royce Kawakami among their guests! So Bennett gave him the grand tour.

October 3, 2010: Bedroom Flooring!
Roger's tasks for the day included caulking all the pukas where the pipes went into the house from underneath...

...and scraping all the spots from the drywalling and painting so that the floor would lay evenly.

So thankful for this attention to detail that will make the house much more pleasant to live in!
In preparation for punching the hole between the two houses, Eric and Thomas laid the flooring in the spare bedroom. We'll be moving into that room so that Michael can move into ours (and Charisa can just move out of the way!). What an adventure this will be...
Before...

The process...

After...

Of course, this is what it looks like now, until construction is finished...

Oh, and my favorite wildflowers are blooming on the strip in front of the house...

September 30, 2010: Another Honored Visitor!
Mark came by to check out the house on our way to CPK...

(...and no, this is NOT the light fixture for the guest bathroom, any more than the hole in the floor is the final toilet fixture!)
btw, if you have plans Sunday night... cancel them! Come instead to the Hawaii to Haiti Documentary Premiere, 7 pm, Kahala Resource Center (the old Tower Records site). We would love to have you join us!
