September 17, 2010: Putting Together and Taking Apart

Darrin and Wongy began installing the cabinets. And Scot came by to admire their work. (FYI, the island is not installed; it's just "there" for now. It actually goes more into the kitchen area.)


This last photo is a sample of the Silestone we will be using for the counter tops. It's called "Black Canyon."

And the troll was under the house disassembling the frame for the concrete pour. If you look close, you can just see him. But be careful, cuz he might pound you!

September 16, 2010: NOW the Roof is Done!

One last small area, and now the roof is done! And the roofers can chill on the lanai.

September 15, 2010: Cabinet Delivery

Bruce and I picked up the flooring this morning from The Floor Store on Sand Island.


Had five burly guys plus Elton the delivery guy help us bring in the kitchen cabinets.


Thank you, Glenn, Mike, Bruce and Ralph for helping Scot and Elton unload the cabinets!

Darrin meticulously cleaned up the kitchen area and is studying the plans to install Friday

September 14, 2010: Finishing the Roofing

Jeff, Joey & Randy began the last two days of finishing the roofing. Today they worked on the old section of the house that had to be repaired (above the porch).

For those of you who faithfully and lovingly follow our progress—even when we don't post regularly like we should (Sandi!)—just letting you know that this week I will work diligently to catch up. So pray for me! Eric is taking a well-deserved fishing day (sorry to say the doc didn't get to go because he has patients today). So that gives me some time to catch up... although the electrician is working today. (We have light!!!!! I will post those soon!)

September 12, 2010: Front Steps

First! A shout out to my beautiful, super speedy daughter Charisa congratulating her on her victory in the 12th Annual Na Wahine Sprint Triathlon (Swim, Bike, Run)! Out of a field of over 200. Woohooo!


So of course, in enjoying watching her compete, I missed the next cool concrete pour. But Bennett got a few photos with his iPhone...

...of course, not until he was done watching the process himself! So what we have are "after" photos. But you can tell it must have been an awesome pour! Look at those beautiful steps!



The extra cement went to good use making flagstones.


Oh, and here's a glimpse of the house at night now... with light!

September 11, 2010: Power!

Lots of stuff going on today, but taking center stage are the power guys: Bobo, Cullen & Keoni! By the end of this night, we will have electric lights! Wow, I feel like Thomas Edison...





Charlie and Roger worked on the lattice on the mauka side of the house.



Buster & Herb worked on the subway tile in the guest bathroom.
